Alpha 1.0.3 Patch Notes
The demo has reached an alpha state! While there's still much to do and improve, I deeply appreciate everyone who has provided feedback and wishlisted the game—your support means a lot. This patch includes numerous fixes and major updates for the Sanguine demo, introducing a brand-new end game ranking system, extensive Main Menu and UI enhancements, significant map improvements, audio reworks, and much more.
Note: It is highly recommended to create a new save.
Key Updates
End Game Ranking System
- Introduced a new end game ranking system with seven different ranks to achieve.
- Ranks are determined by:
- Time taken to complete the demo.
- Number of saves used.
- Rankings will appear upon completing the demo.
Main Menu
- Added a new 3D background for the main menu.
- Adjusted button locations and highlights for improved navigation.
- Added a Credits button to watch the credits video.
- Fixed minor navigational bugs.
- Added new menu sound effects (SFX).
- Increased save file capacity.
- Updated save data font for better readability.
- Rolled back previous audio settings changes; it is recommended to keep audio at the default value of '0.'
- Enabled the ability to pause the intro car crash cutscene using
Esc
(keyboard) orStart
(gamepad).
UI
- Updated UI legend icons for keyboard users.
- Added keyboard/gamepad detection for dialogue screens.
- Improved new player experience dialogs and added a new tutorial for sprinting.
- Enhanced the inventory UI:
- Locked slots are now more visible.
- Inventory dynamically adjusts when expanded.
- Adjusted legend locations across all UI menus.
- Updated the pause menu layout for key bindings.
- Added a "Switch UI Layout" option in the pause menu, toggling between keyboard and gamepad layouts.
- Updated document icons in the Files menu.
- Added a damage feedback UI to show when the player takes damage.
- Reworked the pickup text UI for better clarity.
Map Improvements
- The map now dynamically updates based on player interactions with the world:
- Icons and text appear and persist after interactions.
- Default state has the legend hidden.
- Added a Legend toggle:

(gamepad).
- Refined UI layout for improved clarity.
Audio
- Reworked in-world audio to reflect what the character hears.
- Added new surface SFX for various materials.
- Enhanced and added multiple SFX cues for immersion.
- Introduced:
- Audio for Officer John and the character in the diner bathroom.
- Dynamic world SFX.
- Audio for swinging the kitchen knife.
- A new song for the Main Street area.
- Fixed various audio bugs.
Content Updates
- Added a new cutscene and slightly extended the demo.
- Updated several existing cutscenes:
- The corpse blood encounter.
- The truck bed corpse blood scene.
- Added:
- New areas to explore and interact with.
- Footstep visual effects for surfaces like water and dirt.
- A small cutscene introducing the mutated corpse blood.
- New decals for environmental detail.
- Balanced health pools for better gameplay experience.
- Enhanced various models:
- Officer John’s model.
- The first officer statue and matching doll color.
- Updated environmental features:
- Improved lighting across the world.
- Added leaky pipe outside the diner to showcase water physics.
- Introduced new animations for actions like reaching high objects.
- Updated newspaper visuals and text.
- Refined Steam achievements and their icons.
- Added a new model for the AltRan main gate.
Document Updates
- Rewritten and refined the text for nearly all found documents.
- Updated the first tutorial document.
- Moved the map tutorial document to the forest.
- Added a new tutorial document in the shack near the mobile homes.
Bug Fixes
- Resolved an issue where the first frame of the initial cutscene would flash.
- Fixed multiple collision issues.
- Addressed mouse state issues.
- Fixed disappearing Officer trunk key.
- Corrected long text running off the item examination window.
- Resolved inventory issues with multiple items being selected simultaneously.
- Fixed storage not updating after inventory expansion.
- Fixed jittery rotation bug.
- Corrected shot attack range and inconsistent headshot registration.
